How TaxGo handles it
- 01
Your refund, worked out
CIS deductions are advance payments of tax. TaxGo totals every deduction across every contractor and works out exactly what you get back — or what's still owed.
- 02
Multiple contractors
Worked for several contractors? Upload each one's statements. TaxGo consolidates gross payments, materials and deductions into one return.
- 03
Materials separated
If you supply materials, TaxGo separates labour from materials correctly, so your profit and deductions line up with your statements.
- 04
CIS + self-employment combined
CIS income often sits alongside other self-employed work. TaxGo handles both on the same return, with income, expenses and Class 4 NI calculated across all of it.

Common questions
Asked andanswered.
It depends on your total income and expenses. CIS deductions at 20% or 30% are advance payments against your final tax bill. If your actual liability is lower than what was deducted, you get the difference back. TaxGo calculates this and shows you the figure.
Your tax return isn't going to do itself.
Actually, TaxGo gets pretty close.
